Imphal, October 13 2015:
LPG cook-ing gas consumers who are currently using single cylinders would be provided one more secondary cylinders shortly.
According to information received from the LPG section of Indian Oil Corpor- ation, a new plan to convert all single bottle cylinder consumers to double cylinder consumers has already been initiated.
Single cylinder consumers encounter certain inconveniences such as lack of empty cylinders for exchanging with re-fills which sometimes lead to loss of monthly subsidized LPG quota.
It was with the primary objective of addressing these inconveniences that IOC's LPG section took up the new plan of converting single cylinder consumers into double cylinder consumers, informed the official source.
Single cylinder consumers may start applying for double cylinder connections to their respective distributors or agencies.
Applications for double cylinder connections must be enclosed with domicile certificates, identity proof documents and filled-in KYC forms.
Secondary cylinders would be issued in sequential order starting from the consumers who applied first.
Even if all the single cylinder consumers cannot be issued secondary cylinders, all efforts would be made to issue secondary cylinders to the maximum number of consumers.
There is no problem with IOC in converting all single cylinder consumers into double cylinder consumers but it depends on the choice of consumers.
After stringent measures were taken up to detect and remove multiple connections, the issue of multiple connections has been virtually resolved.
As multiple connections have been removed, all new LPG connections would be provided double cylinders.
Talking about leakage of LPG re-fills, the official maintained that all LPG refills are checked properly before they are sent different agencies from Sekmai bottling plant.
But any leakage on the routes between the bottling plant and distributors' godowns is the responsibility of the bottling plant.
Once the re-fills reached godowns of distributors, the responsibility shifts to respective distributors.
As such, distributors too need to check LPG re-fills before unloading at their godowns.
But they too face shortage of manpower to check all re-fills.
Nonetheless, it is being studied to make all LPG refills free from leakage.
In case of leakage of LPG re-fills while in use, consumers may lodge complaints to 0361-233 1247 or 08822247247, added the official.
