Drugs worth Rs 8 crore seized

In a major breakthrough against cross-border smuggling of drugs, a combined team of Assam Rifles and police seized around 11 Kgs of Methamphetamine drugs worth Rs eight crore.
After receiving a specific information, the combined team of 43 AR and Moreh Police apprehended once Ch Jamkhomang Mate (33) s/o Jilpao Mate of Moreh Ward No 1, Moulhou Veng, Tengnoupal district along with a bag at around 3 pm today.
On examination of the bag, 11 packets of Methamphetamine drugs were found neatly concealed inside packets of tea leaves.
The value of the seized Methamphetamine drugs in the international market is approximately Rs eight crore.
It is one of the biggest seizures of Methamphetamine drugs along the Indo-Myanmar border town of Moreh.
The seizure shows a new trend among the international drug smugglers.
It appears that they have shifted from smuggling WY tablets and heroin powder to Methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth, ice etc through Moreh as a transit point to Indian markets.
