Imphal, July 30:
Appealing to the people of Manipur to maintain peace and tranquility, the State Government has issued a statement informing that Chief Minister O Ibobi left for Delhi today to highlight the demand of the people to lift the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the State.
Re-iterating that the Government respects and understands the sentiments and aspirations of the people, the statement said that it was for this very reason why the Government gave the go ahead signal to the protest rally yesterday.
Certain conditions had to be laid down to ensure that nothing went out of control, it added.
