Centre for Medical and Sales Representatives� Union, North East Region (CRU-NER) has strongly condemned the Manipur police commandos for their action on Union representatives who came to take part in the protest rally yesterday has appealed to the authorities concerned for disciplining the commandos.
Union representatives were allegedly detained by the commandos from taking part in the rally.
They were locked-up and subjected to severe beating before releasing them late in the night, a Union statement said.
The Union also flayed the police action on the agitating MU students in front of Raj Bhavan.
Announcing its decision of taking full part in the ongoing public movement, the Union has also donated Rs 500 besides other medicines to the emergency relief committees at RIMS and JN Hospital.
Youth Voluntary Organization, Canchipur while condemning police action on the peaceful protestors has also announced its decision of extending unflinching support to the ongoing movement for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur, shifting of Assam Rifles from Kangla and punishment of guilty AR personnel involved in the custodial killing of Th Manorama of Bamon Kampu.
Singjamei Kendra Development Organization, on the other hand, while appreciating the decision of the MLAs and Ministers to resign from their respective posts if AFSPA is not removed from Manipur within the stipulated deadline of August 15, hoped that they would not go back on their words.
A joint meeting of Apunba Muslim Club/Organization, local leaders and Panchayat members of Andro Assembly Constituency held under the auspices of Ningthounai Youth Organization, Yairipok on July 27 has strongly condemned cremation of Manorama�s body by the Government without the approval of the bereaved family members.
The meeting also demanded lifting of AFSPA, shifting of Assam Rifles from Kangla and punitive action against the guilty AR personnel involved in killing of Manorama after arresting her from her house on the intervening night of July 10 and 11.Staff and officials of Imphal Municipal Council has also condemned the custodial killing of Manorama by 17 Assam Rifles personnel during a meeting held today.
The meeting also resolved to put pressure on the Government for lifting Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur within August 15, as announced by the Government.
