Imphal, July 24 2011:
Another case of a fraud company collecting huge amount of money after convincing land owners and contractors to instal BTS towers in the name of an internet service provider has surfaced again.
Using the name of internet service provider Myneti working under Guwahati based MS Bull Dyers Protection Pvt Ltd, a firm named National Informatics Service Centre (NISS) collected a huge amount of money from land owners and contractors for installing BTS towers.
Speaking to media persons today, one land owner said that Ningthoujam Bisheswar (30) who claimed to be director of NISS collected Rs 50,000 for installing BTS tower in his plot.
On the assurance that the contract work of installing BTS towers may be executed by land owners themselves, another Rs 50,000 was collected by Bisheswar from the same land owner.
Further, another Rs 3500 was collected as fees for learning basic computer knowledge which Bisheswar said was compulsory for operating the BTS tower.
Convincingly selling his story to land owners and contractors, Bisheswar collected a huge amount from 100 land owners and 50 contractors.
Bisheswar acted in such an impressive manner that he gave power of attorney besides sending engineers at work sites.
He also gave his address as Heirok Part II in Thoubal district but he has now gone into hiding.
NISS staff (accountant) Asem Ramesh of Thoubal Haokha said that the firm was set up in October 2008 and he joined in December the same year.
NISS office was first opened at Chingamakha and then shifted to North AOC before relocating it at New Checkon.
The firm had around 60 staff though most of them have left it.
Baleshore took Rs 30,000 to Rs 60,00 from each staff at the time joining the firm with the assurance that half of the amounts would be refunded on leaving the firm.
There have been numerous such instances of fictitious companies or frauds duping gullible people in the State.
