Elected ward members still not recognized by the government

Imphal Municipal Council Ward members who were elected has still not be given due recognition by the Municipal Council as well as the state government which is a clear sign of rights violation on the part of the state government exclaim the Imphal Municipal Council Elected ward development Committee Members Forum.
Speaking to media persons at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, the president of the forum, Khumbongmayum Gambhir said that the Councillors and Ward members election which was held in the month of May was carried in accordance with the Manipur Municipality Act 1984 and Manipur Municipality Community Participation Act 2010 .
After the election the IMC was re constituted on June 13.But even after a gap of one month the ward members who were elected has not been recognized by the state government.
Ward development committees in every ward is to be established, but due to the non appointment of two members in every ward by the government the committee has still not been formed, he said.
General secretary of the forum said that if the government does not chalk out the devolution of powers of the ward members by the beginning of August the forum will be compelled to discuss about surrendering of the certificates given to the elected members by the District Commissioner.
