Imphal, September 18:
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has exerted pressure on the Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Alluwalia not to reduce the State plan size for the current financial year from its projected figure.
An official source from New Delhi informed that the CM called on Montek yesterday and urged him not to reduce the plan size from the proposed amount of Rs 717 crore.
After giving a patient hearing to the CM's plea, the Planning Commission official assured that the plan size of the State would be increased from the previous one, the source said, informing that the actual plan size of the State would be finalized by first week of October.
It may be noted here that announcement of the State plan size has been delayed due to election process in Maharashtra as well as by-election in the Konthoujam AC of Manipur.
There is every possibility now that the State plan size would not be less than its projected figure of Rs 717 crore, the official exuded confidence.
