Imphal, July 18 2011:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today conducted a field inspection of the ongoing construction work of ADC Bhavan at Chingmeirong which would house Autonomous District Council members of the hill districts at Imphal.
Though construction work of the building is nearing completion, development work of approach road from the highway is yet to be initiated.
The Bhavan has 33 rooms in the southern block and another 27 rooms in the northern block, conveyed a press release issued by the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
In view of the adamant objection of some organisations against opening ADC offices in hill districts, the Chief Minister inspected the areas where ADC Members would be accommodated in a much safer atmosphere.
Ibobi inspected certain areas within 2nd Bn Manipur Rifles complex as well as some portions of Lei Ingkhol.
The Chief Minister instructed relevant officials to put up compound fencing around 8.6 acres of Lei Ingkhol without delay.
He also asked for black-topping of the approach road leading to Lei Ingkhol.
Speaking there at ADC Bhavan, Ibobi stated that ADC Members should now work sincerely to ensure all the rights guaranteed by democracy to people living under ADCs as most of the administrative powers have been already devolved to them.
He also assured that ADCs would be further empowered with regard to the remaining departments for which not much power has been devolved till date.
From Chingmeirong, the Chief Minister went to Keirao Wangkhem and inspected construction work of the State TB and Leprosy Hospital going on there.
The hospital is being constructed at the cost of Rs 4.5 crores.
Though the hospital is targeted for completion by June next year, Ibobi instructed the concerned officials to engage more manpower in order to finish the completion ahead of the scheduled time.
