Imphal, April 06 2021:
Citing and acknowledging people's support and cooperation to his Government's appeal for subdued Yaosang celebration and compliance with the COVID-19 SOP, Chief Minister N Biren has claimed that people have faith in the BJP-led Government.
Biren was speaking at the 41st foundation day of BJP held today at the party's Nityaipat Chuthek office here.
Notably, BJP was set up on April 6, 1980.N Biren opened the foundation day celebration by unfurling the party flag.
People's positive response to the Government's ban on Thabal Chongba and other entertainment programmes during the Yaosang festival was a clear indication that the people trust the BJP-led Government, he said.
Informing that the Government has been working to formulate a separate SOP for Shumang Lila and musical concerts, the Chief Minister thanked all the people for celebrating the Yaosang festival in a very subdued manner.
Pointing out that lockdown has been re-imposed in several States as a second wave of COVID-19 has been sweeping through these States, Biren appealed to all the people to halt different forms of festivals and celebrations for sometime.
He also appealed to all eligible people to come forward for COVID-19 vaccination, abide by SOPs and maintain social distance.
It is now 41 years since BJP has been serving the people of the country.
During these years, BJP ushered in development in different sectors and introduced several welfare programmes thereby benefiting the masses, Biren claimed.
He went on to claim that BJP is today the largest and most powerful political party in the world.
Being the party in power both at the Centre and the State, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of taking people's wishes and aspirations into account.
He said that the best way to serve the masses is to keep close contact with the people.
Following the ideology of Nationalism and humanism which were espoused by BJP founders Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Syama Prasad Mukherjee, BJP has been working to follow the same ideology in Manipur under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Biren said.
With former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and incumbent Narendra Modi practising the ideology of the BJP founders, BJP's popularity has been swelling across the country, he continued.
All the activities being/would be taken up in the hill areas would be done through party workers, he said.
BJP Manipur Pradesh president S Tikendra said that BJP is a political dedicated to the welfare of humanity.
BJP is a group which has been marching forward notwithstanding all the odds and challenges, Tikendra said.
If one is a member of BJP, one should feel proud.
BJP is not like Congress, Left parties and regional parties which are always poised to take advantage of electoral politics, he asserted.
He then called upon the gathering to adhere to the party's culture and traditions without indulging in dirty, parochial politics.
Tikendra went on to claim that BJP would retain power in the State after registering a thumping win in the next Assembly election.
However, most of the BJP Ministers and MLAs could not be seen at the gathering except V Hangkhanlian and P Saratchandra.
