Imphal, July 05:
Even as a mammoth rally was being staged in Imphal on Saturday to pave way for a free education zone, the NSCN-IM has termed that revolutionary organisations in Manipur targetting the educational institutions is the 'anti-thesis of revolution'.
The NSCN-IM stated that in the name of people's movement revolutionary groups come up to struggle for a socio, political identity 'but to target the learning institutions of the students is the antithesis of revolution'.
"No revolutionary organisation worth its name will go against their conscience to target people's institutions.
It is however a very sad state of affairs in Manipur that some revolutionary groups are victimising students, parents and teachers by way of demanding huge amount of money.
Just for the greed of money that comes at the cost of the interest of students is anti-revolutionary, and sullying the revolutionary image," said the statement of the NSCN-IM.
The outfit then stated that in the light of what is happening in Manipur 'where schools are compelled to be close down due to threats from militants', the NSCN-IM expressed strong displeasure and condemn any such violations of students' and teachers' right to pursue their studies without any physical and mental disturbance.
"To gain credibility of any socio-political movement, recklessly choosing targets in the name of fund or tax collection should be stopped forthwith and with due apologies to the people," advised the NSCN-IM.
The outfit also stated that one must take into consideration that winning over the masses remains the central issue in the struggle between the forces of revolution and counter-revolution.
"To witness the rise of counter-revolution in some parts ofManipur only reflects the diminishing people based struggle," alleged the outfit.
