Medical personnel ofthe 17 Assam Rifles unit hospital at Somsai in Ukhrul district saved the life of one Mr Humi of Chahong village after the individual was rushed to the medical centre following snake bite while working in his field in late morning of July 1. According to a statement ofthe PRO IGAR (S), Humi was in critical condition when brought to the District Hospital, Ukhrul as there was no requisite medicine (anti-venom).
With the hospital authorities subsequently referring the victim to the AR unit hospital and the Regimental Medical Officer acting in an efficient manner humi life could be saved as his condition imporved .Humi would be kept under observation for the next 24 hours, the PRO added.
Meanwhile,prompt and swift action by the 29 Assam Rifles under its Officiating Commandant prevented loss of lives and property as the AR personnel along with machinery pulled over a loaded truck which had skidded off the road at near Tengnoupal police station, the PRO informed today.
The Tata truck (MN01/6154) loaded with scraps from Moreh and occupants was almost in a state of getting toppled, the PRO maintained while adding that Tengnoupai locals conveyed their gratitude and appreciation for the generous act of the Assam Rifles.
