Protest against kidnapping of BJP worker's wife in Pallel

Kakching, May 25 2015 : The kidnapping and later freeing the wife of a BJP worker, the womenfolk of 9-Purum District Council Constituency held a sit-in protest at a waiting shed along Pallel-chandel district headquarters road near Sektaikarong village on Monday.

Since late in the morning, women of the DCC staged the protest against the kidnapping of M Timuishim, the wife of a BJP worker M Angdun Maring of Khudei Khunou villlage by some unknown miscreants at around 5.30 pm of May 24.M Angdun Maring is also the secretary of Khudei Khunou village.

However, she was freed by her kidnappers late night on the same day.

The women protestors held several placards that read "Kidnapping of BJP Worker's wife is a cowardly act," "We demand action against the kidnappers", "We demand women's safety in the district" and "We demand for a free and fair election" .

While narrating the ordeal, M Timuishim (30) told the media persons, "Some unknown miscreants came to the village on May 24 and after calling me out from the church they enquired about my husband's whereabouts.

And I went back to attend the church service after informing them I have no knowledge about his whereabouts at present" .

But After the church service, the miscreants waylaid and took me near a vehicle and they forced me to board the vehicle, she continued.

"They didn't even allow me to see my children nor take some cloths along with me before I was forced to leave the site.

However, the unknown miscreants later set me free near Komlathabi village at around 8 pm last night," she narrated.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, Kim, a resident of Sektaikarong said, "We strongly condemn the kidnapping of Timuishim by some unknown miscreants last night.

And the sit-in protest was organised by the women of 9-Purum DCC in protest against the incident" .

She further said, "We were really shocked and upset on hearing the news of her kidnapping last night.

That was not the first case of kidnapping of an innocent woman by miscreants.

Recently, there was another incident of kidnapping of the wife of BJP candidate in the district," Kim added.

While demanding the authorities to book those individuals involved in the kidnapping, Kim also warned of launching an intense agitation over the incident if innocent women are kidnapped by such scoundrels in future.
