Conrad to chair NPP poll meet

Urikhinbam Ramesh, who is planning to contest the upcoming state assembly election from Mayang Imphal assembly constituency, has joined National People's Party (NPP) on Friday.
Meanwhile, NPP national president and Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma would be chairing a meeting of the party to chalk out strategy for the forthcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
Ramesh was accorded warm welcome on joining the party in a felicitation function held at the official residence of Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma at Shillong in the presence of NPP state youth president Laitonjam Jayananda on Friday.
While welcoming him, Conrad Sangma expressed confidence that the growing popularity of NPP in Manipur and the northeast region, especially among the youth, would bring a new wave of the party which would be reflected in the 2022 state assembly election of Manipur.
Maintaining that the party will win big in the 2022 election and play a major role in forming the next government, Conrad said that he will visit Imphal in November to chalk out election strategy.
He also appreciated the efforts of the party's leaders in Manipur for the growing popularity in the state.
He said that new membership from energetic leaders will strengthen the party further.
He also thanked NPP vice-president and deputy chief minister of Manipur Y Joykumar, state president N Kayisii, working president L Jayantakumar and other party members for their efforts.
Later, they also had a dinner at the Meghalaya CM's official residence.
