Lions Club extends assistance to needy

Imphal, January 14 2020:
In a symbolic act of another good Samaritan service, Lions of Manipur, today, distributed 70 rice bags and 53 sewing machines to poor and disadvantaged women as apart of the birthday celebration of Melvin Jones yesterday, founder of Lions Club International (a worldwide known international non-political service organization) .
The celebration hosted by Lions Club of Imphal East was held today at SAYC Community Hall, Porompat.
The function was presided by Lion Praveen Agarwal, District Governor, Lions Clubs International District 322D, which covers four North Eastern States including Manipur, Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
Several Lions dignitaries of Manipur from across the State were also present in the function.
As of June 2019, Lions Club International has mere than 50,000 local clubs with over 1.7 million members in more than 200 countries around the world.
On the other hand, Lions of Imphal Greater distributed 100 bags of rice to casual sweepers and cleaners of JNIMS, who have devoted to keep the hospital clean, on January 12.JNIMS Director Professor Th Bhimo, Medical Superintendent Professor Jitendra, Lions Club of Imphal Greater president Dr K Surjit and other Lion dignitaries attended.
