Onus on youth to preserve traditions: RS MP

Youth must play a major role in ensuring preservation and development of our society by following the traditions and culture of our forefathers, said Rajya Sabha MP and titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba.
Speaking at the annual worship ceremony of Ibudhou Lang-On Ningthou and Ebenthou Lang-On Leima at Keinou Thongkha shrine on Saturday, MP Sanajaoba informed that the shrine has a close connection with Manipur's past and future.
He also assured of developing the shrine complex before next year's ceremony and exhorted the people especially youth to know their origins and ensure that they protect the unique identity from perishing.
The shrine is not only for Keinou but it belongs to the whole of Manipur.
If people want to keep Manipur united then they should understand the changes brought in by time, he further opined.
The programme organised by Ebudhou Lang-On Ningthou Thougal Lup was also attended by Manipur Pollution Control Board chairman and ex-MLA Laishram Radhakishore, officials of Royal Palace among others.
The ceremony was marked by visit of MP and titular to 'Keinou Konung' site along with telling of religious stories related to the shrine and paying of floral tributes to the deities by public.
