9 persons including a woman killed in armed violence last month

Altogether nine persons including a woman were killed in armed violence and about 40 cadres of 15 different underground outfits were apprehended by security forces in the State during the month of June last.
Moreover, one rifleman of 5th Manipur Rifles decamped with four arms last month.
The police managed to recover only two arms while the fugitive is still at large with two other arms lifted from the camp.
According to reports compiled by Hueiyen Lanpao, the underground cadres arrested by security forces in June were six cadres of KNF (P), four cadres of PREPAK, four cadres of KCP, three cadres of RPF/PLA, two cadres of UNLF, six cadres of URF, four cadres of PREPAK (Pro), two cadres of KNA, two cadres of KYKL, two cadres of KCP (MC) and one cadre each of UPRF, PULF, KNO/KNA and KNF (N) .
12 arms, 16 hand grenades, 10 bombs, six mobile phones and 546 live ammunitions and cash of Rs.9,28,600 were also recovered from the possession of arrested cadres.
Among the slain persons, 35-year-old woman D Loho was shot dead by her husband, a police constable, with a licensed weapon at Tadubi.
Six cadres of NSCN (K) were killed by troops of 10th Assam Rifles at Songlung Village on June 22, while two non-local workers were killed and four others injured in a grenade blast on June 27 in a rented house at Uripok Tourangbam Leikai.
