The Human Right Law Network (HRLN) has organized a one day workshop on "HIV/AIDS and the Law" today at the conference hall of the Institute of Co-operative Management at Lamphelpat.
The workshop was organized in a basic premise that the issues of HIV/AIDS are not only confined to medical issues but also a social and economic problem stated a press release issued by the Director of HRLN, Meihoubam Rakesh.
Two books entitled "The Struggle for Access to Treatment for HIV/AIDS in India" and "Against Mandatory Pre-marital HIV Testing in India" both published by HRLN as campaign material was released during the workshop.
Firoz Khan of HRLN, Delhi has spoken on the topic "HIV/AIDS as a Human Right Issue" and during his speech he highlighted various provisions of UN covenants and declarations on HIV/AIDS issue at the same time he has also pointed out numerous cases, PIL filed by HRLN for redressing various problems faced by PLHAs.
The workshop was ended with the launch of a documentary film produced by HRLN as campaign material "I want to live" by L Deepak of MNP+ .
