PAUC appoints new members

Phayeng Apunba Umang Committee (PAUC) today organised a handing and taking over ceremony of its office bearers for the year 20-21 at Phayeng Umang.
During the session, Angom Nabachandra Singh was selected as the president, Angom Joykumar Singh as vice president, Angom Okendro as General Secretary and Angom Budichandra as assistant secretary.
12 others were also selected as office and advisory members.
During the session, the Committee resolved to send a notice/ letter to surrounding village chiefs not to encroach the forest and also objected to the practice of burning forests.
It also resolved that a sum of Rs 10, 000 would be fined on anyone found hunting in the forest area and Rs 5000 for collecting firewood in the reserve forest area.
Further, any schools, colleges, universities, organisations or institutions coming for purpose of educational tour, research, studies or other purposes should obtain prior permission from the Phayeng Pradhan.
The official term of the Committee is two years and meeting of its members are to be held every 6 months where a fine of Rs 100 will be levied on absentees (except death and sick case) and Rs 50 on late comers.
Former minister Ningthoujam Biren of Phayeng donated Rs 5000 to the newly selected PAUC members.
