Shed dependency mindset: MLA Alfred

Ukhrul AC MLA Alfred Arthur Kanngam has called upon the people of Ukhrul not to develop the dependency mentality and instead work to their full potential.
The MLA said this at the Made in Ukhrul Face Mask function today.
Launching the locally made face masks, the MLA said that the main objective of making local face masks is to encourage the people to utilise their own skill and earn a living while being confined inside their homes during the lockdown.
The MLA also urged the people to follow the guidelines while opening the door to the many who are returning home at this stage as COVID-19 is highly contagious Wear face mask, maintain physical distancing and personal hygiene are the guidelines which should strictly be adhered to, he advised.
These guidelines should be followed by everyone until the virus is contained, added the MLA.
The MLA also said that though the Government is providing food grains to all the citizens during this critical period, it would be wrong for the people to expect everything to come freely in the future adding that the dependency mindset will only pull the people back.
It should be the duty of everyone to put the economy back on trail, he exhorted.
Deputy Commissioner, Joseph Pauline Kamson acknowledged the positive course of actions taken up by the MLAs of Ukhrul AC and Chingai AC during the lockdown period and mentioned how Alfred Arthur Kanngam stationed himself at Ukhrul from the day lockdown was enforced personally monitoring the situation.
According to the DC, the materials for making face mask were also provided by the MLA free of cost.
The material is washable, he said and added that the quality is superior.
Joseph also mentioned that the three MLAs of Ukhrul and Kamjong district have generously donated for the welfare of the people.
The SP of Ukhrul Worngam Ningshen said that face mask is mandatory in a public place, adding that failing to wear one is a punishable offence.
More than 2000 face masks were distributed to elderly persons above the age of 60 .
