Philanthropic works continue in both hills and valley

Imphal, May 03 2020: With the Nationwide lockdown extending for the second consecutive time with some relaxation in green zone States including Manipur, helping hands continue to extend by many both from hills and valley to show solidarity.

Moirang
As a token of appreciation, COVID-19 Relief Committee of Wangoo Ahallup Makha Leikai and Sangdangkhong, Bishnupur district provided rice and other edibles to the newspersons/journalists of the district who are working tirelessly in the frontline to provide updated news to the public amid the lockdown.

The simple function held at Wangoo Ahallup WYDO playground was attended by nominees of Borayangbi GP Pradhan, Thiyam Romesh; Wangoo GP Pradhan Amom Keshorjit and Ward no12 Member of the Gram Panchayat, L Ingo and several members of the relief committee.

The distributed items include potatoes, onions, soaps and edible oil.

The committee had also aided different orphanages at Kumbi, Sagang etc.

In the meantime, proprietor of The Kangleipak Institute of Info Tech and Youth Skill Development Co-operative Society Ltd.

Kumbi, Ningthoujam Nongdrenkhomba Meitei provided cash assistance of Rs 500 each to 100 widows of Ward no 4 Kumbi Municipal Council and elders staying at Shanti Ashram at Kumbi Terakhong Lamlong.

Pradhan of Thanga Part-II Gram Panchayat Ningthoujam Chandra also distributed grocery items to about 2600 households which fall under the jurisdiction of the GP .

Relief materials distributed at Laipham Khunou
Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikai Development Association and Laipham Khunou Meira Paibi have jointly reached out to the residents of the locality and those living on rented accommodations with edibles today in wake of the lockdown.

Type Writing Institute and Rural Development Services, Thoubal has also extended edibles to Special Olympic Games gold medallist, Herojit Nandeibam of Bashikhong as a part of their ongoing relief services for the differently abled persons residing in Imphal East and Thoubal districts.

Rice distributed to non-local and migrant labours of Ukhrul
The Ukhrul District Administration in collaboration with the local MLA of Ukhrul distributed rice to more than 1200 non-locals and migrant labourers residing at Ukhrul Headquarter.

Rice distribution were held in three different locations of Ukhrul town i.e, Wino Bazar, Phungreitang and Hamleikhong.

SDOs and police officers were stationed in all the three locations to ensure fair distribution.

The District Administration and the MLA of Ukhrul arranged the rice to ensure that all non-cardholders including non-local and migrant labourers received the benefit provided by the State Government.

Speaking at the sidelines of the distribution, the pandit of Durga Mandir, Ukhrul Mishra expressed that treating the non-locals equally as the local people is highly commendable, especially during this lockdown period.

A woman from Langthabal, Thoibi who own a pan shop at Ukhrul town received 25 kgs of rice, reports our Ukhrul correspondent.

KRSU distributes relief materials
Komrem Students' Union - General headquarters (KRSU-Ghq) distributed relief materials at Songpher, Malamphai, Upper and Lower Kom Keirap village of Churachandpur district and Teraphai village of Kangpokpi district today.

About 5 kilograms of rice and potato, 1 litre each of mustard oil were provided to the needy and unprivileged households of Songpher, Malamphai and Teraphai village, while 3 kilograms of potato and three packaged salts each were provided to the unprivileged families of Upper and Lower Kom Keirap village.

KRSU-Ghq along with Kharam Students' Union (KSU) distributed three kilograms of potato each to the unprivileged families of Laikot Kharam and Laikot Phaizol Village of Kangpokpi district as well.

The Komrem Students' Union - General headquarters along with Chiru Students' Union (CSU) also distributed rice to the poor families of Uran Chiru.

BJP Manipur COVID-19 Combat Team
Convenor of BJP, Manipur COVID-19 Combat Team, Kh Jibon provided edible items to 510 select families of Waroiching Village, Senapati and Khoijuman Village, Bishnupur.

AMSU's Mangal Task Force arranges relief materials for Dolang Chiru Village
All Manipur Student's Union (AMSU) Mangal Task Force has provided relief materials to the denizens of Dolang Chiru Village, Tamenglong district.

A press release issued by AMSU stated that Village Authority of Dolang Chiru expressed a desire for the State Government, especially hills representatives to supply required essentials and edibles per head for sustenance.

Saying that the main occupation of Dolang Chiru is agriculture and due to lockdown, these villagers are facing untold hardships, AMSU appealed all concerned to address the grievances of these villagers at the earliest.

Lorho S Pfoze visits Heirok with veggies for valley dwellers
The lockdown has indeed affected every individual enormously with certain activities brought to a screeching halt, but it has led to an exhibition of the brotherly feeling that hill and valley people share, said Outer MP Lorho S Pfoze on Friday.

Speaking to media persons while visiting Heirok under Thoubal district to gift vegetables, the MP expressed happiness on seeing the vegetables arranged by the hill people received wholeheartedly by Inner MP, Dr RK Ranjan; Heirok Zilla Parishad member T Nungshi; Heirok Nagar Panchyat Chairperson and Councillors and several social workers for distribution to valley dwellers.

As a token of appreciation, the valley people also gifted one khudei each to the visiting team.

The Outer MP was accompanied by Tamei AC MLA cum NPF Manipur State Unit president Awangbou Newmai and social worker Gaidon Kamei among others.

Food items provided to medical staff of Khoupum PHC
A team led by Zeliangrong Film Forum founding member Kachangthai Gonmei and GK Henry CEO Faitheal Biotech (a division of IVY Healthcare) visited Khoupum PHC and provided basic food items on Saturday for the medical staff.

Dr Jaojiansing MO Khoupum PHC expressed heartfelt gratitude to the team for their contribution.

Green Foundation helps
As part of its 28th foundation day, Green Foundation distributed relief materials at Komkeirap Village, Churachandpur District in cooperation with the Komkeirap Village Authority and at Imphal West in cooperation with the Mana-Ingkhol Youth Development Association.

It is an effort of the Green Foundation to assist the Government in its fight to control the spread of COVID-19 and in mitigating some of the hardships of the people, during this pandemic period.

Potatoes, packaged salts, dals, onions, mustard-oils and pumpkins were distributed to more than 350 households.
