Imphal, August 01 2013:
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Khenjoy Block has vehemently condemned the attitude of the Central and State governments with regard to the ongoing fencing along Indo-Myanmar border.
In a statement, Ngamsei Touthang, Vice President of KSO, asked the government to immediately stop the fencing work until redressal of the problems faced by the affected villagers.
Ngamsei also accused both the State and the Central governments with using the helpless villagers and their traditional land as a cheese to appease Myanmar government without respecting the rights of its citizens and violating their human rights.
KSO also appealed to all right thinking people of Manipur to oppose tooth and nail the ceding of rightful land to Myanmar by the government of India in collaboration with Manipur government without taking into consideration of the problems being faced by the people at the border areas.
"Is ceding traditional land of the tribal a part of its plan to grease its much acclaimed Look-East Policy or its failed foreign policy?", Ngamsei questioned.
