Imphal, October 28 2018:
The Thadou Students' Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) and Rongmei Naga Students' Association, North East India (RNSO-NEI) have strongly condemned the recent 'imbroglio at Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS)' in the State.
A consultative meeting was held on October 26 at Manipur Press Club, Imphal regarding the matter, a statement of Information & Publicity secretary, Thadou Students' Association yesterday.
"We came to learn that the recent crisis over financial lapses for EMRSs was due to disagreement between the school management committee of the three EMRSs, Tribal Affairs and Hills Department and Finance Department of the State Government," alleged TSA.
Saying that the school management committee of the three EMRSs should not have threatened to shut down the schools, it lamented that the Government should have done the needful on time to avoid any inconvenience to the functioning of the schools.
"There needs to be a direct funding of the EMRS by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs as there is no State share in the funding," TSA said and urged the Ministry to look into the matter at the earliest for a permanent solution.
