Campaign on "Effect of substance abuse on students" held

As part of the ongoing campaign spearheaded by Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) to root out illicit drugs, liquour and other contraband items from the State, Advance Intermediate College, Moirang Ngangkhaleikai organized an academic awareness programme on the topic "Effect of substance abuse on students" yesterday at around 11.30 am while Hijam Priyokumar, President in charge, CADA; Konjengbam Jugindro, Principal, Advance Intermediate College; Ch Swamichandra, Vice Principal, Advance Intermediate College; Haobijam Dileshwor, Vice Chairman, Advance Intermediate College; and Huiningsubam (o) Basanti, President, CADA Bishnupur District Committee attended the awareness programme as presidiummembers.
Ningthoujam Doren, Vice-president, CADA, who have attended the programme as resource person, said that the awareness campaign is a part of the series of campaign launched by CADA few years back to save our students from the evil effects of illicit drugs, liquor and other substance abuse, which if not check in time, could have a serious repercussions to the individual students and the society as whole.
The young students which are the future pillars of the society need to be protected from the influence of contraband items to build a progressive society otherwise a bleak future awaits our society, he added.
Speaking at the occasion, Hijam Priyokumar, President In charge CADA stated that it is hard to find an individuals untouched by the influence of alcohol, drugs and intoxicants due to its widespread availability while adding that liquor is available abundantly in the State even though the Liquor Prohibition Act is in place in the State.
