Independence Day observed in Manipur

On the eve of 69th Independence Day, a vibrant cultural programme was organised at the Battalions' Headquarters, Sector Headquarters under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) .
On this auspicious occasion, 26 Sector Assam Rifles organised a variety of programmes to boost the morale of the "Veer Jawans" deployed in the region and a tribute was offered to those who laid down their lives for the nation and made supreme sacrifice at Pallel.
The 69th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm by 26 Sector Assam Rifles and under the Command Battalions in Chandel district.
The event commenced with the unfurling of the Tricolour followed by the National Anthem.
The local residents were also participated in all the locations with great vigour and enthusiasm, said a press release issued by AR.
On this occasion, the importance of appreciating the nation's independence earned through great sacrifices was emphasized to the young generations and also encouraged them to continue on preserving the ethics and values of our Nation.
CHANDEL: India's 69 Independence Day was celebrated in Chandel District in the presence of DC Chandel Robert Singh Kshetrimayum.
The programme was organised under the aegis of the Chandel District Administration, the celebration which was marked by unfurling of the tricolour, colourful parades of 42 contingents including MR, Manipur polices, VDF, ex-servicemen, colleges and school students and Dance troupe, cultural items and distribution of awards and prizes held at Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary school ground, Japhou passed off peacefully.
During the cultural session, Chandel Conservatory Music rendered beautiful hymns and followed by cultural dance of Anal, Chothe, Gorkha, Lamkang, Monsang, and Tarao.
Students of JNV Chandel performed bharatnatyam while St Joseph School Panchai, Anallon Christian Institute performed choreography and Maha union Govt Higher secondary school displayed cultural dance.
District top police officials, govt officials and staffs and various community leaders also attended in the celebration.
KANGPOKPI: People of Sadar Hills District under Sadar Hills District Administration Kangpokpi celebrated the 69th Independence Day of India for the first time at Brig Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi despite security threat.

DC, Sadar Hills graced the occasion as chief guest and the National Anthem was sung by students of JNV Kangpokpi, Senapati-II.
Several awards, red blanket, sports materials and appreciation were given to various DLOs, Chiefs, Youth Club, Schools and police personnel on the occasion.
In the march pass parade, SFS, Daili bagged the first place while contingents from HM.Hr Sec School, Keithelmanbi and JNV-Kangpokpi, Senapati-II secured the second and third position respectively.
The momentous celebration was also attended by Thangjakam Misao, Vice Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills; H.Khangba, Member ADC Sadar Hills; P Rocky Rangtaina, Member ADC Sadar Hills; Seikhosat Kipgen, Member, ADC Sadar Hills; DLOs; leaders of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills (House of the Kukis), Church leaders, Women Union, KTC, KWWO, KYU, village chiefs, students and parents.
LAMKA: Mualnuam Village, Churachandpur observed the 69th Independence Day after it was upgraded from block to a full-fledged Sub-division.
The observation was organized by Sub Division Officer at Public Ground, Mualnuam village.
Thangboi Gangte MCS SDO/Mualnuam graced the occasion as a chief guest, Vungzagin Valte, Parliamentary Secretary GOM, Thanglianpau Guite President ZRO, Tribe Leaders, Chiefs and various social leaders also witnessed the celebration.
On the occasion, ten school Anganwadi workers and Mualnuam Youth Club within the Sub Division participated in the parade and the chief guest took the salute after hoisting the Tri-Colour.
