Kakching Ethei re-diverted

Kakching, August 16 2015:
Ending fear of many farmers, the Sengmai river has been re-diverted to its original old stream course, Kakching Ethei on Sunday after the overflowed river diverted its water course in different way in the recent flood.
Led by Kakching Ethei Committee, nearly 4,000 people from Kakching, Pallel, Sora, Irengband and nearby villages came out with their JCBs, Tata Dippers, Tractors and various weapons and re-diverted the overflowed Sengmai river water to Kakching Ethei.
MLA of Kakching A/C Y Surchandra, former MLA of Wabagai U Deven and many social activists also provided financial help for the purpose.
It may be mentioned that more than 22,000 parees of paddy fields at Kakching, Pallel, Sora, Irengband, Lengba, Louyai, Khoirakpa, Uya, Kerching, Lamdong, Wari Makha Lou, Panya and Leingang have been getting irrigation from the Kakching Ethei since the last many years.
