Shija's annual nursing conference held

As an endeavour towards updating the knowledge of advanced nursing practice, developing of leadership skills, awareness on occupational health and safety and reaffirming the code of ethics for nurses, the 1st Shija Annual Nursing Conference was held today at the auditorium of Shija Hospitals, Langol with the theme Closing the Gap: From Evidence to Action.
The inaugural function was graced by Y Guni Devi, retired Principal, School of Nursing, Medical Directorate, Lamphelpat; P Landhoni Devi, Nursing Superintendent, JNIMS; and Dr Kh Palin, Chairman cum Managing Director, Shija Hospitals, Langol as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Speakers at the function highlighted the importance of nursing which included the promotion of health, prevention of illness and the care of ill, disabled and dying people.
It was also pointed out that advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy, health system management and education are also important roles of the nurses community.
Several experts spoke as the resource persons of the scientific session.
A total of 160 delegates from different hospitals and nursing institutes attended the conference.
