Imphal, Aug 30: There is no waiting shed, guest house, community hall or any other development in Tangkhul dominated Nungbi Khullen Village under Ukhrul district.
Nungbi Khullen Village is situated around 135 km from Imphal along National Highway 150 .
Villagers of Nungbi Khullen K Maihai, Samuel and Village Chief AS Saingam informed Hueiyen Lanpao that the state government has always neglected the village when it comes to developmental work.
So, there has been no electricity in the village till date though a transformer was installed last year.
The villagers have been living without seeing the electricity in their lives so far.
There is also no arrangement for solar lighting I the village.
The villagers have no idea as to whom they should approach for any developmental work for the village.
They work hard to earn their livelihood.
The state government has not initiated any kind of progressive work in the village.
There is a lone health sub centre in the village where a nurse and a chowkidar are on duty.
A model high school and a primary junior school are there.
Village children study there and do their higher study at Ukhrul or Imphal.
The main occupation of the villagers is to produce vegetables and make 'Nungbi Chaphu' (pottery).
Pinewoods were used as firewood and these woods are bought by people from Ukhrul and Nagaland.
It is funny that there is not even a single bus stand/waiting shed along NH 150 in the village.
There is also no guest house or community hall there.
