Imphal, August 30 2012:
Attacking the Congress government in the state led by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh over slow progress of repairing work along NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam), President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit, Sh Shantikumar Sharma questioned the policy of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, the BJP President alleged that while the Ibobi Government is only concentrating on making the Thoubal Bazaar a beautiful place, one of the lifelines of the people of Manipur; NH-37 is in a pathetic condition.
Since the NH is not in a usable condition, people are facing many inconveniences.
So, the government should work out a plan to finish it as soon as possible.
Questioning the policy of the Government towards the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway, Shantikumar accused that while other states like Assam, Nagaland and Mizoram are able to maintain all their NHs properly, the state government has not been able to finish the long-pending work on improvement of its second lifeline.
It's funny that when anyone inquire about the progress work on the NH, the state government always accused Border Road Organisation (BRO) and in return BRO will give their own version, Shantikumar added.
