Fresh cases, test capacity drop; TPR rises

Imphal, January 27 2022:
Amid the rising tide of third wave of Covid-19 and number of positive cas-es, the state is witnessing significantly low test capac-ity on daily basis.On Thursday, the state reported 365 fresh cases out of only 1915 samples tested in the last 24 hours registering a daily positivity rate of 19.06 per cent against 16.25 per cent recorded on Wednesday.
Thursday also reported two death cases which took the fatality toll to 2036.One of them was a resident of Imphal East and the other was from Ukhrul district.
Both of them had received second dose of Covid vac-cine.
So far, the virus has claimed lives of 155 vaccinat-ed people including 35 who had received second doses.
In all, 347 persons were discharged from home isola-tion (243), RIMS (13), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (86) in the last 24 hours while caseload in the state rose to 3760 out of which 1278 (33.99 per cent) are in home isolation.
There are 243 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 166 in RIMS but there is no updated infor-mation on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only two had no fresh Covid cases on Thursday.
So far, the state has re-corded 1,02,304 positive cas-es and 1662 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has report-ed 5916 new positive cases and 34 fatalities.
The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities are 3025 and 19 respectively.According to official re-ports, the 365 fresh cases included 362 civilians (163 male & 199 female) and 3 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were at RIMS (44), JNIMS (24) and other testing centres (297) .
1The positive cases from among the general pop-ulation are from Imphal East (95), Imphal West (145), Thoubal (25), Bishnupur (26), Kakching (13), Kamjong (1), Kangpokpi (5), Ukhrul (4), Tamenglong (6), Tengnoupal (5), Noney (1), Sena-pati (4), Chandel (5) and Churachandpur (27) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,31,704 (general population - 1,26,799 and CAPF personnel - 4,905) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,25,908 (general population - 1,21,250 and CAPF personnel - 4,658) and number of active cases is 3760 (general population - 3520 and CAPF personnel - 240) .
The recovery rate is 95.60 per cent.A total of 451 D-type and 112 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, only 2278 vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,99,884 including 10,37,832 who have taken the second dose and 20,242 who have taken the precautionary dose.As per data maintained by The People's Chron-icle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (46,693), Imphal East (29,179), Thoubal (9767), Churachandpur (10,762), Kangpokpi (3007), Tamenglong (3328), Bishnupur (9465), Senapati (2362), Ukhrul (3111), Kakching (6636), Chandel (2559), Noney (1115), Tengnoupal (1149), Jiribam (1101), Kamjong (1005) and Pherzawl (465).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (682), Imphal East (488), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (166), Kangpokpi (64), Tamen-glong (14), Bishnupur (196), Senapati (11), Ukhrul (48), Kakching (117), Chandel (42), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 42,444 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 28,811 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,89,504 tests per million population against the national average of 5,15,365 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1915 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 19.06 per cent while the cumulative positivity rose to 8.67 per cent.
