Imphal, April 06 2020:
Communist Part of India (CPI), Manipur State Council has urged the State Government and authorities concerned to immediately dispose of huge quantity of betel leaves which were airlifted to Imphal on
April 4 .
Bringing such items at a time when the State is struggling due to the hardship brought by the imposition of Nationwide lockdown in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic is very unfortunate, said a statement issued by L Sotinkumar, who is the secretary of CPI Manipur State Council.
Demanding the State Government to dispose the seized betel leaves at the earliest, Sotinkumar further urged the Government and department concerned to initiate swift action against all those involved in trading the item during such a crucial period.
The State Government should convene a similar meet to that of all-party meeting called by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8 to take a bipartisan resolution to tackle coronavirus outbreak, he continued and requested the concerned authority to provide curfew pass to few of important functionaries of the party.
