Imphal, February 14 2011:
Governor Gurbachan Jagat greets the people of the state especially the Naga community on the occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni.
In a message, the Governor stated that Lui-Ngai-Ni, the seed sowing festival of the Naga tribes is their biggest festival.
Since it is a tourist festival, it occupies a unique position not only among the Nagas but also among the other communities of the North East and the country.
The festival, inter-alia, calls for peace and harmony, besides spreading the message of 'Live and Let Live', cutting across barriers of caste, creed and religion and also setting aside differences amongst different communities.
In celebrating a festival like Lui-Ngai-Ni, the edifice of oneness and bonds of brotherhood and friendship get strengthened.
He further expressed his wish that the festival will be celebrated in its true spirit and will bring the people belonging to various groups and communities together, thereby strengthening the very fabric that binds the nation together.
