CCTV to be installed for effective traffic regulation

Imphal, February 14 2011:
Close Circuit Television (CCTV) will be installed at the five traffic points where computerized traffic signals have been introduced recently.
The CCTVs are to be installed in front of Imphal Raj Bhavan, General Head Post Office, North AOC, Khoyathong traffic point and Keishampat, for checking violation of traffic regulations in these points.
It further aimed at providing an effective traffic regulation.
Plans to install the same CCTV in high buildings on the side of the road of the city where traffic congestion was a regular future is also considering, the source disclosed.
There are plans to install CCTVs at Palace gate, Western Gate of Kangla, Singjamei Chingamathak traffic point, Khongnanganikarak, Kwakeithel Crossing where the computerized traffic signals are to be installed.
Meanwhile, with the conclusion of the awareness programme conducted by the Transport Department on the computerized traffic signal since last February 9, formal operation of the system will be started at the earliest the transport department said.
