Bishnupur district bandh against kidnapping begins

Imphal, February 14 2011:
The 48-hour district bandh imposed in protest against the kidnapping of Moirangthem Thoiba, supervisor of BCL Private Security Limited allegedly by KCP(MC) crippled life in Bishnupur district.
No untoward incident reported in the first day of the bandh that began from 5 am today.
Most of the commercial vehicles including passenger service were stay off the road.
Imphal to Churachandpur passenger service along the Tidim road was hit by the bandh.
Meanwhile, villagers mostly women from Kumbi where Thoiba hails from in two bus coming to lodge a complaint with the Chief Minister about the kidnapping and to request him help in tracing out Thoiba was blocked by the police near Raj Bhavan gate.
They were blocked by the police when they started marching towards the CM Bungalow on foot from Thoubal parking.
Later, four representatives of the people led by JAC formed in connection with the kidnapping, Kh Khomdonbi were allowed to proceed and called on with the CM.

In the meeting with the CM, they submitted a memorandum containing their demands which include urging the government to find a way to save Thoiba from the kidnappers among others.
They insists Cm to initiate talks with KCM(MC) for releasing the hostage.
They also demanded abolition of all mobile service companies operating in the state alleging that they remained silent even though men in their service are kidnapped and killed by a UG group.
This has been necessitated to check recurrence of ill-fated incident at Nachou (killing of a aircel watchman after kidnapping) and Kumbi (kidnapping of Thoiba), they justified their demands.
