Imphal, April 05 2012:
All Manipur Anti Drug Association (AMADA) has expressed serious concern over the arrest of eight IRB personnel with drug haul by Assam Rifles, which has come after the incident of another two IRB personnel in the gang-rape of a housewife.
In a statement, Secretary of Publicity and Propaganda of AMADA K Hemabati Chanu observed that involvement of its security personnel in such crimes should awaken the conscience of the state government for making plan to wage a new war against opium in Manipur.
Even as AMADA has been campaigning for a drug free Manipur, involvement of eight IRB personnel in the drug smuggling has shown the security forces under bad light, the statement added.
The eight IRB personnel have been reportedly placed under suspension from their respective service.
