MLA calls for promotion of Thadou culture, identity

Kangpokpi AC MLA Nemcha Kipgen today called for revitalizing the identity and culture of Thadou tribe during the annual meet organised by Thadou Students'
Association at Sir Shankarlal Concert Hall, North Campus New Delhi on October 8 .
Th Joy Haokip, Dy Director, Army Headquarters, Delhi and L Kipgen, president, Thadou Inpi, Delhi & NCR were also present at the programme.
MLA Nemcha Kipgen motivated the Thadou students to preserve and promote the identity, culture and dialect of Thadou tribe apart from acquiring education.
Emphasizing the need to uphold ones identity, MLA Nemcha said that it identity allows people to stand out as an individual, develop a sense of well-being and respect other groups and their culture.
Underlining the importance of a dialect, the MLA said that dialect is fundamental to cultural identity.
If a dialect disappears, community and its culture will subsequently perish.
Therefore, it is important and necessary to keep one's dialect alive.
