Intending BJP candidate Sword Vashum has pledged to give his utmost priority to developing remote villages in order to upgrade the lifestyle and living standard of the people.
Speaking at a one day BJP political awareness camp held at Chingjaroi Khullen village, Ukhrul, Sword Vashum from 45 Chingai Constituency stressed on the need to develop the remote villages and added that priority will be placed on connecting all remote villages with motorable inter-village roads throughout the year, improving health care system and to revamp all the educational institutions to ensure education at the doorstep of the marginalized people.
He alleged that the State has been reeling under corrupt Governments for more than 40 years since attaining Statehood.
The tribals have been deprived of Article 371 (C) and HAC is a failure in the State, he claimed.
The intending BJP candidate was given a warm reception by Headman Francis Chingjaroi at his residence.
Ceremonial blessing was also invoked by Fr Philip earlier before the political awareness programme began at Chingjaroi.
Chingjaroi is a native village of former ML A A Aza who is also seeking the BJP ticket.
It may be mentioned that Chingjaroi village still practices a traditional custom called "Rakhao Kajie".
It is an act of demonstrating support to a particular candidate.
According to conventional practices, the village will provide a platform to the candidate to address the village voters and receive the undisputed support from the villagers.
Youth, women leaders of Chingjaroi Khullen and Ngachaphung and the BJP workers from Razai village attended the one day political awareness camp.
