Contempt cases related to excess appointment of teachers in ADCs withdrawn

All the 14 contempt cases related to alleged excess appointment of 835 Primary Teachers in Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) filed against the respondents have been withdrawn.
This was informed by Tribal Affairs & Hills (TA & Hills) Department Joint Secretary Armstrong Pame in a communiqu� dated April 21 last and forwarded to the Deputy Secretary, Pay Implementation Cell (PIC) .
The TA & Hills Joint Secretary said the High Court was "pleased to close the contempt cases and informed the PIC that Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Kangpokpi, Ukrul, Senapati, Chandel, Churachandpur and Tamenglong had reported that there was no demand or liability to be paid to the excess appointees during 2006 .
He also informed that an order had been issued by the then Additional Chief Secretary (TA & Hills) in connection with four writ petitions and "contempt cases" pertaining to Ukhrul ADC for no payment of salary and allowances for the period claimed.
Thereafter, the TA & Hills Joint Secretary requested the High Power Committee to consider closing of the cases.
