Thoubal, August 31 2021:
BJP Heirok Mandal has accused Congress party of misleading the public in a bid to come back to power.
Addressing a press meet at its office here on Tuesday, Mandal president Thokchom Chourajit said that the comments of Manipur going backward madeby AICC election observer Jaifirn Ramesh and AlCC Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das during an enrolment programme in Heirok AC were misleading.
He claimed that the BJP government led by CM Biren ended the trend of fake encounters in the state, which was the dominant feature of the 15 years of Congress rule.
On the other hand, the Biren government launched several welfare schemes and helped the common people.
BJP is also successful in bridging the earlier gap among the hill and valley people while road networks have been expanded under the BJP government.
In short, the state is moving forward in terms of development and yet the Congress leaders gave false statement to mislead the public, he said.
Reacting against former CM O Ibobi for his remark on Heirok AC, Chourajit said that MLA Th Radheshyam has taken up several initiatives in Heirok AC, which the ex-CM could not do in his own constituency.
MLA Radheshyam provided Rs 50,000 cash assistance to 15 victim families of Covid.
Apart from this, the MLA has been helping the poor people of the constituency, he said.
He also slammed Ibobi for claiming Heirok Higher Secondary School and Engineering College as achievements of Congress government and said that these were part of the package sanctioned by the Centre to pacify the angry people of Heirok AC after three youths were killed in a Thabal Ghongba incident.
He also charged the ex-CM and ex-MLA of Heirok AC M Okendro of misappropriating Central package funds sanctioned for Heirok AC.
He further said that Radheshyam laid the foundation stone for Heirok Engineering College when he was the education minister in the Biren government.
Radheshyam introduced The Dhanaman juri University Act 2017 in the state assembly and the Biren government passed it.
Interestingly, ex-CM O Ibobi is claiming credit for these two as well, he pointed out.
On the other hand, INC's claim of 1250 members of BJP Heirok Mandal joining INC is a false as no members of the Mandal have resigned from the party so far.
On the contrary, many Congress workers are joining BJP after seeing the unbiased work of MLA Radheshyam, he added.
