Imphal, April 30 2013:
The Mother Nature has endowed Noney in Tamenglong district with one of the most picturesque landscapes one could ever imagine in the wildest dreams.
But the Wadi Garden, which has been developed along the hilly terrain on the southern part of Noney Bazar is like gems adding to the natural beauty of the place.
Today, the garden not only attracts thousands of visitors round the year, but also provides employment to many local residents.
Interestingly, the flourishing garden that spreads over an area of 285 hectares is not an artificial one that we see in other parts; but it has been developed from Dui Ban Sui (meeting point of waters) of Noney area.
Latter it has been christened as Wadi garden.

The idea to convert the waste countryside into a beautiful tourist spot was said to have been initially perceived by forefathers of Amu Kamei, who is the incumbent President of Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland).
The idea has materialized into a favourite place for nature lovers and a booming area of floriculture and horticulture today by the efforts of the local people.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Amu Kamei said that apart from different kinds of fruits like Mango, pineapple, lemon, banana, lichi, guava, orange, olive, jackfruit, etc, some valuable trees like teak, leihao, singkap and many more are also growing in the garden.
Some medicinal herbs are also growing inside the garden.
To provide shelter for tourists who come from far off places, small huts have been built.
Giving a new shade to the beauty of the garden, Amu Kamei has also started venturing into fish and duck farming within the area.
Luckily, there is no lack of water since the garden has been created from a meeting point of waters flowing down the rocky hill terrain.
Apart from the agricultural products produced from the garden, livestock being reared is providing employment scope to many local people.
As disclosed by Amu Kamei, the annual turnover accrued from the garden is somewhere between Rs 10-12 lakh.
Along with constructing a tourist center on the north-west side of the garden, Amu Kamei is planning to black-top the 1 km long road stretch road to connect Wadi Garden with Noney Bazar.
As of now, passenger service on Tata Winger is available from Noney Bazar upto the entrance gate of the garden.
Drawing the attention of the authority concerned for constructing a super market in the vicinity of the garden keeping in mind its ever growing popularity, Amu Kamei has also conveyed his desire for developing the Wadi Garden of Noney as a tourist spot by the government.
