Imphal, April 30 2013:
Regarding the missing case of Alice Kamei and "ugly consequence" of the ongoing total bandh along NH-37, Zeliangrong people residing in Imphal valley, Bishnupur and Sadar Hills have resolved not to cooperate with AZSU, ZSUM, ZYF during an emergency meeting held at the Community Hall of Majorkhul here on 28th April.
After long deliberation and analysis of the opinion and suggestion shared by the members present, the meeting unanimously decided to condemn the wrong decision taken by AZSU, ZSUM & ZYF for imposing total bandh along the Imphal-Jiribam road (NH-37) over a non-issue like Alice Kamei missing case or captivity in the hands of RPF/PLA.
Treating it as a State issue is unreasonable.
So, the meeting also decided not to support or co-operate in the ongoing agitation pertaining to Alice Kamei case, a joint statement signed by Ranjita Golmei, General Secretary of KAMA; Athai Kamei, Chairman of ZU, Bishnupur & Sadar Area Zone and G Pougangung, Chairman of ZU, Imphal Zone, said.
It also decided that any kind of financial contributions or subscriptions sought by any organisation in Imphal valley should not be entertained by Zeliangrong people without the knowledge and consent of ZU, Imphal Zone and Bishnupur & Sadar Area Zone with immediate effect.
While maintaining that the ongoing NH bandh has compounded the pain and suffering of the people in Manipur and particularly the ill-fated victims of Noney fire, the meeting also demanded immediate withdrawal of the ongoing total.
The meeting also made it clear that self-style leaders of students and youth organisations of Zeliangrong namely Pamei Tingenlung, President of AZSU; Titus Kamei, President of ZYF and Aduanbou Pamei, President of ZSUM should bear sole responsibility for any eventuality and compensated for damages caused during the bandh, the joint statement added.
