Imphal, April 30 2013:
The service period of Chief Secretary DS Poonia has been extended for another six months even though his actual service period ends today.
A decision to this effect was taken by the government today.
The service extension order of DS Poonia came late in the evening from Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh after the conclusion of the State Cabinet meeting today.
However, no official approval letter from the Prime Minister's Office was received as the Secretary of Union Cabinet was out of station.
Nonetheless, since the Prime Minister has given his approval; DS Poonia would hold the post of Chief Secretary for another six months.
