Many big and small traders along Imphal-Moreh road were affected significantly due to the restrictions imposed on the import of horticulture items including apples, oranges, mangoes, onions, garlic, peas, red beans etc from Myanmar into Imphal.
Numerous truckloads filled with the said items were also left stranded along the route while many godowns which have been filled with these items has also started emanating foul smell due to prolong storage.
Expressing concern to the imposition of restriction which has disturbed business activities of many small traders on Myanmar side, Myanmar Tamu town authority cautioned that it may affect the friendly relationship between the two countries.
General secretary, Border Trade Chamber of Commerce Surender Singh Patheja demanded reasons for the imposition of such restriction on the import of said items from the relevant department while adding that a representative of business community from Moreh will visit Imphal tomorrow to discuss the issue with the CM .
