The game of Tambola, more popularly known as Housie among the people of Manipur, is being organised almost on daily basis in different parts of the state these days, more particularly in greater Imphal area.
But beware if you are thinking of going to part in the game and try your luck for the prizes on offer next time.

According to Public Gambling Act, organizing of Housie in GM Hall has been prohibited since last year.
However, Housie continues to be organised in other places and the prizes range from Rs 1 lakh to 3 lakhs and from motor bikes to luxurious cars.
Tempted by the prizes on offer, many people, young and old alike, are seen coming out in large number to try their luck in these games.
In the midst of all these, reports are doing the round that some groups of individuals are printing blank Housie tickets.
Normally, Housie tickets used in Manipur are brought from outside and they come with printed numbers on them.
But these individuals printed blank tickets and went to places where Housies are being organised.
As and when the numbers were picked up by the organizer, these individuals simply marked the numbers in the relevant columns and claimed the prizes.
On the other hand, it has come to light that there certain groups of people who organize Housie taking the names of various registered associations.
These individuals made use of the names of these registered associations for certain amount, as hiring charge.
