Process on to pull out from BJP-led Govt: JD-U chief

Janata Dal United (JDU) Manipur president Ksh Biren Singh has revealed that the support extended by JDU MLAs to the BJP-led government in the state might be withdrawn since the party has split from the NDA recently.
Responding to a query raised by media persons during a reception ceremony of former minister Nimaichand Luwang, who has joined JDU; Ksh Biren said that JDU MLAs of Manipur extended support to the BJP-led government in the state in view of good relation the party had with BJP and other alliance partners of NDA.
Accordingly, JDU MLAs met the Governor and officially declared support to the BJP government headed by N Biren Singh.
However, JDU parted ways from the NDA recently at the centre and accordingly process for withdrawal of support to the BJP led government in the state has begun and modalities of withdrawal would be decided only after consultation with central leaders and state MLAs, the state unit president said.
Regarding the upcoming municipal and local body elections, Ksh Biren said that JDU will field its own candidates in many areas but will discuss with partners in area where the party could not field its candidates.
On the joining of Nimaichand Luwang, Biren said that the people's trust on the party has increased with the joining of a matured leader and the party will attempt to form the next government after the assembly election in 2027.With this target in mind, the party is preparing to bring out a vision document in consultation with experts, he added.

speech at the reception ceremony held at JDU state office here on Monday, Nimaichand Luwang said that he has been in the political held for more than 40 years with success in assembly elections for many terms and decided to join JDU after success of the party in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
He further said that a significant political change in the country is very imminent in near future and the recent split of JDU from NDA itself was an indication.
JDU will take a big role when there is a political change in the country, he added.
The reception ceremony was also attended by JDU MLAs Kh Joykisan and Md Ashab Uddin, party's general secretary O Nabakishore and ex-MLA Kh Loken.
