Govt putting effort to increase fish production

A one day National Interface Meet on 'Innovative Approaches for Development of Freshwater Aquaculture in Manipur' was held at ICAR Manipur Centre Imphal today.
The event was organised by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre and ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary (Fishery) MH Khan conveyed that the State Government is planning to produce enough fish by 2020 so as to prevent import of fish from other States.
He said that the Chief Minister is putting his attention and maximum effort to reach the required quantity of fish produce in the State with the assistance from professionals and renowned Scientists.
Director of Fishery Department Bidyarani Ayekpam, Life Science Department, Manipur University Professor W Vishwanath, Director Research, CAU Imphal RK Saha, Pr Scientist & Head FHMD, ICAR-CIFA Dr SS Mishra and Director ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya Dr N Prakash attended the event as dignitaries.
