Tengnoupal, November 27 2018:
The Thadou Students' Association (TSA) has called off the proposed indefinite bandh along all the Highways in Manipur which was scheduled from midnight of Nov 27 .
It may be noted that TSA had called the bandh to protest the alleged assault of Michael Lamjathang Haokip, secretary general of TSA-GHQ, by 12 Assam Rifles at Sita Lamkhai Check Post, Tengnoupal on November 12.The decision to call off the bandh was taken following a fervent appeal from the Chief Minister's Office in view of the on-going Sangai Festival.
The Chief Minister has assured that necessary actions will be taken up after the festival, said TSA.
Meanwhile, TSA leaders has held a meeting with Assam Rifles authority led by the DIG, 26 Sector of Assam Rifles.
The meeting will continue later as definitive agreement on all the demands put up by students' association could not be reached in today's meeting, said TSA.
If the authorities concerned and the Government fail to meet the demands, TSA will be left with no option but to launch indefinite bandh on National Highways (Imphal-Jiribam, Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal-Moreh roads) at a later date until the demands are met and justice is delivered, said a statement of the secretary information & publicity, TSA GHQ.
