Shepoumaramth Rights Watchdog submits memorandum

The Shepoumaramth Rights Watchdoghas decried themode of works taken up by the PWD National Highways No II, Division I, from Mao Gate to Koubru Lekha and sought immediate necessary action from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for immediate remedies.
It has submitted a memorandum to the ministry regarding the matter.
The memorandum submitted by Patrick A Kolakhe, convener, Shepoumaramth Rights Watchdog also accused the PWD engineers of not monitoring the works properly.
Regarding the construction of slab culverts, retaining/brace walls and line drains, the rights watchdog alleged that quality has not been maintained and proper rules are not followed.
Instead of mending wearing off asphalt and pot holes by filling Water Mix Macadam (WMM), it asked the concern authorities to use premix bitumen.
The thickness of WMM also need to be inspected to meet the required thickness, said the memorandum.
The RCC line drain under construction at Tadubi Bazar are not done in a proper way, alleged the rights watchdog.
The works as seen indicates that the work agency, Bhartia Infrastructure Project Limited (BIPL) is giving a free hand and the PWD National Highways No II Division I is not monitoring the work implementation properly, alleged the rights watchdog seeking attention of the ministry.
