Imphal, April 26 2012:
The Bharatya Janata Party (BJP), Manipur Pradesh has stated that the non-expansion of the Congress led SPF government in the state since the last two months is a total violation of the people's mandate and a direct threat to the democratic set up.
Addressing media persons, Shantikumar Sharma, President of BJP, Manipur Pradesh said that since O Ibobi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the State on March 15 last and consequent expansion of his Ministry with the induction of the three Ministers, the Ibobi led Ministry has yet again remained silent on the further expansion of his Ministry even as two months have already passed.
The current situation has evoked suspicion among the minds of the general public whether the Chief Minister desires to hold all the Ministerial berth to himself or is there any bigger hand above him who is handling everything with an iron fist.
Whatever the reason, the act is highly condemnable and unfortunate, he pointed out.
He further stated that the act of Chief Minister O Ibobi in not expanding his Ministry for a long time tends to slow down the developmental programmes which are to be taken up in the state.
The state government should take seriously the issue of around 400 crores overdraft the state is facing at present.
There is an urgent need to expand the Ministry.
At the same time the Ministers who are to be inducted should also be fit for their respective posts.
