Cancer fails to weaken the spirit of veteran athlete

Imphal, July 23 2013:
An 80-year-old veteran athletic woman from Manipur, now a cancer patient, has bagged three medals including the gold in the 34th National Masters Athletic Championship (NMAC) .
S Sanahanbi, a resident of Singjamei Thongam Leikai of Imphal participated in the competition held from June 27-July 1 this year at Shree Kanturana in Bangalore.
She won one gold medal and two bronze medals in the championship.
Sanahanbi has been a cancer patient since eight years but she is still healthy.

Showing off the medals she has won in the national competition, the elderly woman while speaking to newsmen at the Press Club here, said she intends to encourage all the people suffering from cancer in the state not to discriminate themselves on the ground of being cancer patients.
She said cancer patients should possess a high will power. About 3500 elderly men and women participated in this year's edition of the championship.
