2 more succumb to COVID-19 in Ukhrul, death toll touches 12

Ukhrul, May 21 2021:
The fatality of COVID-19 second wave continued to ravage Ukhrul district as it witnessed two more reported deaths today taking the cumulative COVID-19 death in the district to 12 .
The victim, aged 28 succumbed to COVID-19 at Ukhrul District Hospital.
With two deaths earlier of the same illness, three persons have succumbed to COVID-19 infection at Ukhrul District Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Ngachanpam Sareo from Ukhrul town, Awungtang succumbed to COVID-19 at around 3:00 am today.
According to reports from the District Hospital, Ngachanpam Sareo was admitted in a critical condition on Thursday evening.
He was kept in an isolation ward for intensive treatment and later succumbed to COVID-19 at the hospital.
Meanwhile another victim, Obed from TM Kasom village, Ukhrul also expired today at RIMS, Imphal due to Covid-19 infection.
It might be mentioned, that the first and second Covid victim of the district, Wepfupelo Wezah and Ningtharla Lohe were both from Jessami village, Ukhrul.
According to the District Hospital authority, more than 75 persons from Ukhrul district have tested covid-19 positive so far and among them 21 persons were in isolation.
Meanwhile, the State Health Department has initiated a disciplinary proceeding against Dr Yahia Khan, MO District Hospital, Thoubal for his wilful disobedience of Government orders by failing to join his place of posting as Specialist (Obstetrics and gynaecology) District Hospital, Ukhrul.
